Displacement Reaction
What is Displacement Reaction?
A reaction in which a more reactive element takes the place of a less reactive one in a compound. In Group VII a more reactive halogen displaces the halide ion of a less reactive halogen from solution: the added halogen takes the electron and becomes the halide ion, while the halide already present loses its electron and is released as the free halogen.
