Properties of ionic compounds
What is Properties of ionic compounds?
Ionic compounds have high melting points and high boiling points, so they are solids at room temperature. They conduct electricity well when molten or dissolved in water, and poorly when solid. These two statements are what Core 2.4.4 asks a candidate to describe; explaining them in terms of the lattice, the electrostatic attractions and the mobility of the ions is Supplement 2.4.7.
