Integrated Development Environment in context
An integrated development environment (IDE) is software that combines the tools needed to develop programs into a single application. Instead of writing code in one program, translating it with another and running it with a third, the programmer does all of it in one place. The seven functions the syllabus names are code editors, a run-time environment, translators, error diagnostics, auto-completion, auto-correction and prettyprint.
