Antibody

What is Antibody?

A protein produced by lymphocytes that has a binding site complementary in shape to one particular antigen. Antibodies bind specifically to that antigen, which can cause pathogens to clump together, neutralise a toxin, or mark the pathogen so that phagocytes engulf it; antibodies do not engulf pathogens themselves.
