Dentition
What is Dentition?
The set of teeth in the mouth, described by their types, shapes and arrangement. Human dentition contains four types: chisel-shaped incisors at the front for biting and cutting, pointed canines for gripping and tearing, and premolars and molars at the back with broad ridged surfaces for crushing and grinding. Each shape suits a different part of physical digestion.
This definition is part of the Human Nutrition chapter in Cambridge O Level Biology.
