Domestic Water Treatment
What is Domestic Water Treatment?
The treatment of water to make it safe for a domestic supply. Sedimentation and filtration remove solids, carbon filtration removes tastes and odours, and chlorination kills microbes. The purpose is safe drinking water, not chemically pure water: dissolved substances remain after treatment, which is why laboratory work uses distilled water instead.
