Collective Bargaining
What is Collective Bargaining?
Negotiation between a trade union, acting on behalf of a group of employees, and an employer, over pay, hours, working conditions and other terms of employment. It replaces many separate individual negotiations with one, which strengthens the employees' bargaining position and gives the employer a single agreement covering the whole group rather than a different arrangement with each worker.
This definition is part of the People in Business chapter in Cambridge O Level Business Studies.
