Trade Union
What is Trade Union?
An organisation of employees formed to protect and advance the interests of its members at work. A union represents members collectively in negotiations with the employer over pay, hours, working conditions, safety and job security, and represents or advises individual members in disputes and disciplinary matters. Union presence gives an employer a single structured channel for consultation, but can also increase labour costs, slow the introduction of change, and lead to industrial action where negotiation fails.
